Our high school is merging with another one into a brand new "State of the Art" building this fall. We are launching a 1:1 netbook environment. I want to learn as much as I can in preparation for this undertaking.

Welcome!

Welcome to the 1:1 Learning Environment Ning.

We can use this space to share and develop strategies around 1:1 laptop programs in educational settings. There are many aspects to consider when thinking about starting a 1:1 learning environment, from hardware and software, to developing teacher and student readiness, to creating learning opportunities otherwise not possible.

I hope you can join in the conversation.

Insurance for Laptops 4 Replies

Just wondering what other schools are doing in relation to insurance for laptops. This seems to be a substantial cost in having the laptop program.

Map of 1:1 programs

Does anyone know of a map that shows the locations of 1:1 programs in the US? I am mainly interested in Apple programs but a map that had them all could be useful.

ULearn

In just a few days a team from my college, including my principal, two teachers and myself, will be embarking on our first international conference. We have chosen ULearn as the conference of choice due to the excellent range of presenters and topics as well as its proximity to Australia. As a team we are hoping to make new connections and expand our teaching and learning repertoire using ICT and productive pedagogy.

Just Getting Started: Some thoughts and considerations when implementing a 1:1 (Macbook) learning environment.

We (Kynan Robinson and myself) have been investigating the possibility of starting a 1:1 Macbook program at North Fitzroy Primary School for the past 4 months for 2010. Originally we were looking at 276 units for students in grades 3-6. After careful consideration we have decided on a gradual approach, phasing in the 1:1 program starting at grade 4 2010. Our proposed model is a parent funded 3 year lease agreement where the… Continue
